Terra Nova Fires Entire Writing Staff
Geplaatst op 04 november 2010 21:23 door Cavalerahe production of Fox's epic prehistoric drama 'Terra Nova' has been plagued with problems, and here's the latest trouble surrounding the show: the entire writing staff, save for showrunner Brannon Braga, has been fired.
But don't worry -- it's not as dire as it sounds. According to the Los Angeles Times, it's only a money-saving issue. Because 'Terra Nova' is launching with a two-hour special in May followed by a regular series order in the fall, most of the production has been pushed back until next summer. That means the writers on the payroll -- some of whom were making a reported $200,000 a week -- were just waiting around until they could start scripting episodes in the spring.
The all-star writing staff is a pricey one, so Fox let them go with the intention to rehire them in the spring -- if they haven't found a new gig by then.
According to previous reports, the 'Terra Nova' pilot has already cost $10 million -- and it hasn't even started shooting yet. Executive producer Peter Chernin left in September due to "creative differences." However, one bit of good news: the casting was finally completed earlier this week with the addition of actress Christine Adams as a longtime Terra Nova resident who befriends the Shannon family.
