De show draait om twee serveersters in New York. Max komt uit een arm gezin en Caroline komt uit een rijk gezin, maar heeft nu geen rode cent meer. De twee twintigers worden snel vrienden en dromen ervan om samen een cupcake winkel te openen maar de 250.000 dollar die ze daar voor nodig hebben is ver te zoeken aangezien ze nu al de eindjes aan elkaar moeten knopen.
