Blake Lively Wants to Leave Gossip Girl

There's some juicy gossip coming from the set of the CW hit 'Gossip Girl,' and it might portend a major casting change. Star Blake Lively wants out, according to a report from Britain's Heat magazine.

The report, via Showbiz Spy, cites various reasons for her intended departure, her working relationship with boyfriend and fellow cast member Penn Badgley notwithstanding.

"She's tired of working on the show,'' said a source. "It was great at the beginning, but she's started to get bored of her storylines and all the petty fights on set. Nearly all the cast members have had some kind of bust-up. Besides the fact that she gets to work with her boyfriend, Blake wants to leave."

Lively wants a dramatic exit and showrunners are considering it, the report says.

If Lively does indeed depart 'Gossip Girl,' she won't be too hard-up for work. She's co-starring with Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming 'Green Lantern,' and with Ben Affleck in 'The Town.' The actress is also vying for a part alongside Robert Downey Jr. in Alfonso Cuaron's space drama 'Gravity,' according to a report in Entertainment Weekly. Scarlett Johansson is also up for the role.

Let's just hope that if Lively gets her way, she doesn't follow in the footsteps of another actress who left a successful Josh Schwartz-led drama for a movie career -- former 'The O.C.' star Mischa Barton isn't exactly fending off film roles left and right nowadays.
